All About Shatterproof
In 1984 members of the John Jamieson PHAB Youth Club expressed a desire to form a perfomance group. Two months later they performed "Jack Horner" a pantomime which was written especially for them.
Since that time we have established a reputation for creating and performing our own material. Productions have included "Toys 'R After Us", "Showdown at Stodge City", "The Wolf's Revenge", "In Search of Treasure" and most recently "St, George and the Dragon".
Over the years it has become increasingly clear to us that there is a lack of opportunity for many people who want to be involved in the Performing Arts. We aim to address this inequality.
So, as long as you have an interest in performance then we are the group for you... Shatterproof is made up of people of all abilities and if you are worried about learning lines, don't, all our performances are unscripted !
You never know 'till you've tried
How to join us?
We meet every Monday at the Carriageworks Theatre, Millenium Square in the centre of Leeds. Our sessions run from 7:30 to 9:30. We do not close during holiday periods. For an informal chat phone Rob Kirk on 0113 2494561
What we do?
Our sessions include improvisation, mime, stage technique, voice work and movement. There is also a big helping of fun exercises designed to make you feel part of the team and hopefully make your evening worth while.
If you don't think you'll like acting then Shatterproof may still be the place for you. "Backstage" people play a major role in our work.
What can we offer you?
We offer you lots of fun while you pick up new skills and meet new people in a safe environment with a relaxed atmosphere. No previous experience required.
What you can bring to us!
You can bring to us your sence of humour, your enthusiasm and your ideas. As we only perform our own work you will have the opportunity to help shape our future.
What will it cost?
